What up world! I want to welcome you all to my blog. My name is Stephen Ellis but I to refer to myself as Jazz. I have had many nicknames, i.e. Stevie Easy, P.B.S., but none of those really described my personality. The name Jazz is derived from my style, which I have been told is smooth, suave, yet eccentric. Anyway I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, East Flatbush, but I have spent majority of my time in Maryland throughout high school and college (graduated Westlake high school '05, and currently attending Morgan State University). During my time in Maryland I have developed a strong passion for music and decided to pursue it as an avenue to express my eclectic thought. Along with my myspace page and this blog I plan to introduce you to my world. Using different forms of multimedia I plan to inspire a new generation of open minds by showing receptiveness to new and different ideas. My solo project, "The Showcase" coming in October will reflect my, previously mentioned aspirations to inspire. Feel free to post comments, feedback and ideas either here or on my myspace page (www.myspace.com/smootherthanjazz). I hope you will enjoy what I have to offer to the world of art and entertainment. Put God first and watch your blessings unfold...
I thought this was very entertaining, a freestyle that could have been a hit song.

Man I pray that God will continue to bless you and keep you in the name of Jesus. I Think that Its great that you are using your gift that God has placed inside of you. No matter what happen, know that God loves you and he's on your side.
Your brother in christ
I think that you are doing a good job. No matter what people may say,Trust God.
That was a DOPE azz freestyle!
I love Kanye...and so do my brothers because I don't know where his first cd is...they come into my room and borrow cds...I'm a librarian. :o) His covers...the ones I can look at right now, Late Registration and the collector's edition of Graduation...they remind me of my college experience. I laughed when I first opened the books of his cds, the bear and how lost he looks in the academic world...how he placed cupid's arrows, the stars, and royalty in his book...tardus subcriptio... the bear leaving school and going to into the city and just feeling betrayed by the world, by what he learned in school...symbolic of his life experiences and his place in life at the moment...I just think that Kanye is awesome! I love that he speaks his mind and he has no shame in doing it. I like how he rocks his collars up and his preppy/hood style. I think that he's very authentic and he tries to keep things real in such a fake industry so his fans can see through some of the fantasy that is portrayed as real life today. He's about his fun, but he's not afraid to talk about issues in a clever way. He's really a true artist, from his collaborations, his production, his lyrics...I'm a huge fan of Kanye. All of the things he's been through has only made him stronger, and I hope that he remains the same cool guy who can sing about his mom and then sing about the good life, because he is a man who has both in his life. It must have been hard for him to lose his mom...he seemed so close to her. I loved this post Jazz! Keep on blogging! Don't forget to check mine out too! :o)
