The 700 billion dollar question

HOW WILL THIS ECONOMY SITUATION AFFECT ME??
I'm 21 years of old, and I believe it's never too early to start understanding the world around you. But as I look at the world around me, I become overwhelmed by bad news. And to make my case, the latest denial of the President Bush $700 billion bail out plan for Wall St., along with the market dropping 777 points (a very holy number btw) is enough proof. Now, you might not find its relevance to "you", but I find this extremely important. Before I tell you why, let me ask a question....
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A DREAM??
Not a dream when your alarm clock wakes you up, but a dream like Dr. King. A dream, a goal, an idea. Something only you know or want to do or even change. I have dreams way too often, and that is why this economy situation is very important. See, the economy will turn around no doubt, but it's the repercussions of these events that frighten me. After this lesson in money management, the government will put strict policies in place so the economy will not repeat this tragic depression. Which means, loans for entrepreneurs will become impossible, college loans will become harder to receive and credit card interest rates will sky rocket. Now this is my opinion on the future of America, but I don't want to stop dreaming. I want to be the first Hip Hop soccer player with a PhD! And no one can tell me other wise. As of right now, all I have is a dream, and it's that dream that keeps me alive when bad news consumes the world. I wont let anyone take that away, search for your heaven on Earth and keep dreaming!

Dior Homme

Along with many other things, I love high fashion designers. Dior finally made my list with some sick upcoming gear for the fall '08, so I thought I'd share a few designs from their mens line.

"Artist of the Weekend"!-Finally

This weekend's award goes to a man who has created thousands of followers and just as many enemies. The Hon. Min. Louis Farrahkan! YES, Farrahkan. Check out this speech at the State of the Black Union and I dare you to differ. Tavis Smiley gets reviews from his (at the time) newly released book "The Covenant". (btw I own the book, and recommend everyone checks it out.) Farrakhan is the "top artist" this week simply because "we need to start thinking like free men and women who don't want to live on a plantation anymore". Farrahkan is 100% right when he says, "we need to make a covenant with black America", because our current state will never change unless WE make that desired change ourselves. I want you to see this video and ask questions. Ask about the North American Union, ask where all of this fits in Gods plan and figure out your purpose. Because time is real, so is slavery and so is truth. Get free ya'll.

Guess who's bizack! With a new toy...the MONOME!

This contraption is called a Monome, a music based computer program unit, that has all the capabilities of "Fruity Loops" the beat making program. The hardware designers are based out Philly, and have cashed in on these 8x8 panels of light. The 8x8 edition (seen below) first went on sale May 2006 with only 400 copies made and sold world wide. With units selling out within it's first year on the market, these guys mean business. But what makes these Monomes such a hot commodity? After some serious research I've come to find that endless possibilities lead to great music production. Just imagine making music without boundaries, without limits, where the imagination has 100% dictatorship over your craft? What would become of the producer, who can make the beat he has in his mind without becoming content with what his computer program will let him do? Well, that is to say once he has mastered the seemingly "computer geek" piano first (which looks like you might need a little more than a "101" class). But everything comes with practice, and good luck getting your hands on one. They tend to sell out within the first few minutes upon release. But def. worth checking out.

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!

Never judge a book by it's cover, seriously. Ronald Jenkees is a huge figure on the Youtube scene, with each video averaging a minimum of 1 million plays. An amazing keyboardist, with a suspect swag lol. He will get a huge feature on the next upcoming project.

DO NOT WEAR OBAMA T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, PINS ETC. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU VOTE. SPREAD THE WORD

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD...

We looked it up and this is true!
This morning I heard on the Steve Harvey show that on the day of elections you CANT show up to vote wearing any thing that show’s who you are voting for….like Obama T-shirts, buttons, or anything like that or you will be turned away. They say it’s against the law, and a lot of people don’t know that so please spread the word.

"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom"-the play.

I have been blessed by the graces of "randomness", to have experience a classic piece of African American history! Vagabond Players presents, "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom", directed by Cornell Jones and was shown at Fells Point! I really give the actors big props, and if you ever hear about the play in your area check it out. I don't want to spoil the play, so I wont go into details. But it's Def. a must see.

1st edition of "Featured Weekend Artists".

This is the very first post to whatssmootherthanjazz.blogspot.com, for the featured artist of the weekend! The "Artist of the Weekend" is awarded to those who think outside of paradigm and rise above the mundane. Whether through music, arts and photography, spoken word, architecture/ landscaping or even live speeches. The "Artist of the Weekend" is something to pay attention to week in and out!

This weekends award goes to the instrumental group: the FLOBOTS!
The Flobots grabbed my attention when fellow blogger "Mickey Marx"of terror-torial.blogspot.com, introduced me to the Flobots video on youtube for their first single, "Handlebars". The first couple seconds of the video, lead me to believe these guys are wack! But none the less, by the end of the video I was left wanting more. After listening to a few more tracks from their revolutionary styled album, "Fight with Tools", I downloaded the album (..illegally, the real copy is coming soon). Decorative beats, laced with organic instruments played by other members, compliment the message induced tracks perfectly. If you haven't heard of the Flobots, I've posted the video for "Handlebars" here for you, along with the link to their website. Those who haven't copped the album, please do! Music is still alive ya"ll. (btw my favorite track off the album is "fight with tools") lol

Preview of CHELSEA VS. MAN. UTD TRAILER (Arsenal stand up) lol

Two of the worlds most expensive franchises go head to head Sunday 9-21-2008

I thought this was interesting...leave thoughts and comments.

The Introduction

What up world! I want to welcome you all to my blog. My name is Stephen Ellis but I to refer to myself as Jazz. I have had many nicknames, i.e. Stevie Easy, P.B.S., but none of those really described my personality. The name Jazz is derived from my style, which I have been told is smooth, suave, yet eccentric. Anyway I am originally from Brooklyn, New York, East Flatbush, but I have spent majority of my time in Maryland throughout high school and college (graduated Westlake high school '05, and currently attending Morgan State University). During my time in Maryland I have developed a strong passion for music and decided to pursue it as an avenue to express my eclectic thought. Along with my myspace page and this blog I plan to introduce you to my world. Using different forms of multimedia I plan to inspire a new generation of open minds by showing receptiveness to new and different ideas. My solo project, "The Showcase" coming in October will reflect my, previously mentioned aspirations to inspire. Feel free to post comments, feedback and ideas either here or on my myspace page (www.myspace.com/smootherthanjazz). I hope you will enjoy what I have to offer to the world of art and entertainment. Put God first and watch your blessings unfold...
I thought this was very entertaining, a freestyle that could have been a hit song.
